TextBroker: Break the Bank and Earn, Earn, Earn!

When it comes to the place for freelance content writers on the web, TextBroker has got the patent on success and professionalism.  Seriously.  I DO write for them but believe me when I tell you that I am not getting any kind of special treatment, payment or other type of benefit by saying that.  They just do it write!  (See what I did there?  "Write…should have been "right" and the damn blue line from MS Word is killing me, but I'm leaving it!)

Pay

TextBroker has unique pay scale that many other sites have started using.  Instead of paying for, or being paid, a flat amount for work they have instituted a "quality scale."  Basically, the better you write the more you get paid and the higher quality the client wants the higher they pay. The low end is .007 cents per word all the way to .05 cents a word.  That's a large difference but it really is fair.  TextBroker lays payment flat on the table with their online pay scale. No surprises there!

As you can see, $3.50 and $25.00 for a 500 word article is a large disparity and most people tend to call in the Level category.  I like this because it makes everyone yearn for perfection in getting to the next level.  Who would want to be a level 4 or 5 right?

Payments are made twice monthly as long as you have earned $10.  You can request by the 5th and 20th of each month and you will receive payment via Paypal by the 10th and 25th, respectively.  Usually I have my payment in Paypal by the end of the next working day.

The best thing about TextBroker is the possibility of Direct Orders.  If a client likes your work they can request you personally and then you can name your price.  Obviously, don't get carried away here.  Be fair to the client and yourself.  I have two private clients that use me on a regular basis and they keep me pretty busy.  As you will quickly find out in the forums n TextBroker it is a good practice to sending a message to a client when you finish a project letting them know you are available for direct orders, and letting them know how much you liked working for them.  You know…sell yourself!

Study the style-guides, especially the sections on commas and you can get there.  Me?  My level is a secret…shh.

Submission

It's pretty easy to submit a piece of work at TextBroker.  When you look at the assignment board and click on a particular order it will show you the length required, keywords and density required, and any special instructions from the client.  Follow them to a "T" and you should be fine.

I recommend writing your submission on another platform, I use MS Word, and then copying it to the TextBroker submission slate.  It works great and you can add in html tags to make your submissions look more professional or if the client requested it.  Don't get nervous about html tags!  They're pretty easy now but they terrified me early on.  Hey!  There's an idea for a future post!  Wooo!

Topics

Topics and jobs abound at TextBroker! Writing blog posts, ezine articles, press releases and reviews on tons of different stuff.  When the TextBroker job board is full…wow!  And it usually does have work but it does slow down on Saturdays and into Sunday.  By Sunday night/Monday morning, however, it fills up pretty quickly again!

Most are 300-500 words long but you will see some for 100 and all the way up 1,000 or more.  As long as you stay disciplined and work you can make some pretty good cash. Time manage and write for an hour then take 15 minutes and start again!

Editors

This is another big plus for TextBroker.  Much like Break Studios  the editors are great to work for.  Sometimes a client can be picky or downright too demanding.  Sometimes they're just trying to find a way out of paying.  The TB editors will mediate the conflict and usually as long as the writer has followed the rules and limits set forth by the client's initial order they will side with the writer!

Comments or questions please go ahead!  Do you write for Textbroker?  What's your opinion?  Anything that you need to know that I didn't cover here?  Ask...and I'll follow-up!
